In 1990 two students of the Manchester university, Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands the Middle Ages together studying history, have united to play music in the spirit of Kraftwerk. In the beginning of the musical career were DJs in club under the name «Naked Under Leather» in 1992, acting under the name «The 237 Turbo Nutters». Then they took to themselves the name «The Dust Brothers», in honor of the American creative collective working with Beastie Boys.using hi-fi system Hitachi, the computer, a sampler and keyboard, they have written down a composition «Song To The Siren». This track has been let out on their own label «Diamond Records» in 1992, and May of 1993 is republished on a label «Junior Boy’s Own». The plate has been published by circulation of 500 pieces, fortunately, one of them has come into the hands of Andrew Ueverollu (Andrew Weatherall) which has invited them to own label Junior Boys Own.

In 1993 both have successfully graduated from the university and have started to do remixes for other musicians. In 1994 left EP «14th Century Sky» with a composition «Chemical Beats» in which own style of a duet was defined. Then left EP «My Mercury Mouth». Meanwhile, to them known collectives with the request began to address even more often to make remixes. Among the works made a duet during this period, remixes on «Jailbird» groups Primal Scream and «Voodoo People» The Prodigy, having popularity on MTV Europe in 1995.

Before the first international tour in 1995, in order to avoid problems in the USA because of use of the name existing there original «Dust Brothers», the duet has replaced the name on «The Chemical Brothers». In the same 1995 there was a debut album «Exit Planet Dust», got on 9th place in the British charts of albums. Hide review
